I have a Roadster II that I've had for years now, and just last spring after happening upon this site started riding it again. It's in decent shape for it's age. It runs well, no smoke, and doesn't have any frame rust or anything. There's a little rust on the chrome front fender, wheels, and the muffler, but it's just surface and I think it will clean up just fine. Now that a new spring is upon us and I'm fixing it up, I'm looking to put a little more spring in it's step. Are there any good upgrades that I could do? I was thinking maybe some parts from a Black Widow since it's also a 4hp but revs to 5000rpm... Is that sort of thing possible? I don't really know much about these little beasts, but I'm not afraid of a little engine tear down or anything, and I can't seem to find much info online. Any good tricks, upgrades, or advice? Also, I really want a kick start for it. Is there a company that still makes these? Thanks in advance.

You can add a Dell Orto carb. This will bypass (actually Eliminate) the governor. Check with Brandt at www.ruppParts.com to see if he has any for sale.

Any idea where I could get a kick start? I can't seem to find one on the mini-bike sites that I've found, but I know I've seen them on bikes before.

I have seen kickstarters on ebay, one had just sold about a month ago for $50.

Kickstarters haven't been made in years.....ebay is about your best chance to find one.
think about what type life your engine has had....hot rodding it with "bolt on" easy items may put it in it's grave real quick. So many of these little engines had a rough life and are living on borrowed time......primarily due to lack of oil and or lack of oil changes
